Making a beaded sun-catcher

I've started making myself a beaded sun-catcher to hang in my bedroom window. I'm using predominantly glass beads in reds, oranges and pinks and I use red plastic coated wire (Tigertail) to thread the beads on to. I use crimp beads to secure the ends (doubling-up to make extra secure) and I create a loop at the top end which then simply threads onto a bamboo cane (the straightest and neatest-looking I could find) which I hung from the window frame with small-ish hooks.

This is an lovely little ongoing project- I want to cover the whole width of the window and as you can see I'm only half way there. I've just used the last of my orange and red beads (I've lost count how many I've already used so far), but as soon as I order some more I can carry on adding a string at a time when I have some spare moments :)

I'd love to know what you think.....maybe you've made something similar yourself, or maybe you now feel inspired to make one :)

  3. Thanks Lisa :) I'm very pleased with the way it's coming along and it's so simple to do.

In my window I'm growing cherry tomatoes and basil (I start them off inside) and miniature chilli plants :)
